WHY WE LOVE INDONESIA

Indonesia is, without a doubt, one of our favorite countries. We are captivated by the incredible diversity across its islands and are always moved by the warmth of its people. Beneath the surface, the underwater world is simply breathtaking, with vibrant reefs and dreamlike beaches waiting to be discovered.

Our days were filled with cruising the Komodo Islands, snorkeling with manta rays, hiking untamed islands, stargazing under open skies, or tracking orangutans in Sumatra’s lush jungles. Every moment feels like pure nature and complete freedom, that’s what makes Indonesia feel truly magical to us.

Day 1-5
Sumatra - Discover the wild north

Step into the unknown and let the rhythm of the land slow you down. Ease into your journey with either a local cooking class, natural soap making, or a cave visit with beach BBQ, before diving into the untamed jungle that awaits.

Venture deep into the rainforest on a three-day guided trek. With luck, cross paths with wild orangutans and other hidden wildlife in their natural habitat. Each day, journey deeper into the lush jungle, following winding trails and crossing rivers.

In the evenings, unwind in rustic riverside camps surrounded by the sounds of nature, share stories over hearty meals, then fall asleep to the rhythm of the rainforest under the stars.

The last day, trade your hiking boots for a raft and glide downriver, the forest whispering its secrets as you return to town.

The best time to visit Indonesia is between April and November, which is the dry season across most of the country. During these months, you can expect plenty of sunshine, warm temperatures (usually between 25 and 32°C), and lower humidity perfect for outdoor activities like hiking, snorkeling, and exploring cultural sites.

Rainfall is minimal, making travel and island hopping easier and more enjoyable. Evenings can sometimes be a bit cooler, especially in mountainous areas.

If you prefer not to buy a physical SIM card, I recommend using an eSIM from Airalo you’ll find more detailed information about this option in my Travel Guide Book including a 10% discount on their services.
