WHY WE LOVE NEPAL

Nepal has a way of touching your soul. It’s a country where every sunrise feels sacred, and every mountain peak tells a story. From the buzz of Kathmandu’s narrow alleys to the peaceful trails winding through the Himalayas, Nepal is a land of contrasts that somehow feels perfectly in balance.

Trekking in Nepal was a dream we had long carried, and the Manaslu Circuit completely exceeded our expectations. Every day brought breathtaking views towering peaks, deep valleys, and untouched landscapes that filled us with awe and gratitude. But what truly touched us were the cozy tea houses along the trail.

They weren’t just places to rest, they felt like warm havens where we experienced genuine kindness and hospitality that made us feel truly at home, even though we were far from everything familiar. The people we met showed a warmth and openness that’s hard to describe but impossible to forget.

Walking these paths felt like living a dream one we will carry with us forever.

Days 1–3

Touch down in Kathmandu, where your adventure begins. After a warm welcome and transfer to Hotel Aloft, set off the next day on a scenic overland journey.

First by local bus to Arughat, then switch to a rugged jeep ride through winding mountain roads toward Machha Khola. (Private Jeep available from Kathmandu on request)

From here, lace up your boots, the trail awaits. Begin your trek through remote Himalayan foothills, reaching the village of Jagat as the landscape slowly unfolds its secrets.

Days 4–5

Venture further into the heart of the Manaslu region. Trek from Jagat to the quiet village of Deng, then continue your journey through deep gorges and fragrant pine forests to Namrung.

As you ascend, the landscape shifts, becoming more rugged, remote, and awe-inspiring with every step.

Namrung is a peaceful mountain village with breathtaking views of the Manaslu range.

After a rewarding day on the trail, take time to rest and soak in the serenity. Don’t miss the charming local bakeries, famous for their homemade cinnamon rolls and apple tarts made from locally grown apples.

It’s also the perfect place to browse your first souvenir shops and enjoy warm, authentic encounters with the villagers who call this region home.

Days 6–7

Continue your ascent toward the high Himalayas.

Make your way to the scenic village of Lho, and Shyala. For the first time, catch a glimpse of the majestic Mount Manaslu, standing proud at 8,163 meters, an awe-inspiring sight that marks your arrival in true high-mountain country.

Then press on to Samagaun, a Tibetan-influenced settlement nestled beneath the towering peaks of the Manaslu range. Spend a well-earned rest day here to acclimatize.

For those with energy to spare, optional hikes lead to Manaslu Base Camp, the serene Birendra Lake, or the ancient monastery of Pungyen Gumba, tucked away in the mountains.
Days 8–11

Begin your ascent from Samagaun to Dharmashala, passing through the windswept village of Samdo.

This leg of the journey prepares you for the high crossing of Larke Pass (5,106 m). The climb is demanding yet deeply rewarding, unveiling sweeping alpine vistas at the top.

After a steep descent, you’ll reach Bhimthang, a secluded haven encircled by towering peaks and glacial landscapes. Spending the night here feels almost dreamlike, offering one of the most unforgettable views of the entire trek.

Days 12-13

From Bhimthang, descend through lush pine forests toward Dharapani.

In spring, the forest bursts to life with blooming rhododendrons, painting the trail in shades of red, pink, and white, a stunning contrast to the snow-capped peaks above. This natural spectacle, especially vibrant in April, adds a magical touch to your descent.

From Dharapani, board a local bus to Besisahar, where you'll spend the night and rest after the trek.

The next morning, continue your journey with a scenic local bus ride back to Kathmandu, marking the return to city life after your mountain adventure.

Private Jeep available back to Kathmandu on request
Days 14–15

Enjoy your final days in Kathmandu at your own pace, explore hidden corners of the city, revisit your favorite spots, or pick up a few last-minute souvenirs.

Your adventure concludes with a transfer to the airport and a heart full of unforgettable mountain memories.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
  • INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT:

International flights can be arranged upon request, subject to availability. A 10% service fee will apply to cover handling and booking costs.

  • VISA:

Visa requirements differ depending on your nationality. We strongly recommend verifying the latest entry regulations with official immigration authorities before you travel. Roxy Travel Plan can provide general guidance or advice upon request; however, we cannot take responsibility for visa approvals, rejections, or changes in immigration policies.

  • CASH/ATM:

Nepal remains a predominantly cash-based destination, especially in rural areas, trekking routes, and local markets. While credit cards are increasingly accepted in upscale hotels, restaurants, and shops in Kathmandu and Pokhara, cash is essential for most everyday purchases, transportation, and small eateries.

ATMs are widely available in major cities and tourist hubs, dispensing Nepalese Rupees. However, access is limited in remote mountain regions such as the Everest or Annapurna areas, so we recommend withdrawing enough cash in Kathmandu before starting your trek. Always carry smaller denominations, as change may be difficult to get in villages or for small transactions.

  • ALTITUDE MOUNTAIN SICKNESS (AMS):

Trekking at high altitude comes with the risk of Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS), especially when ascending above 2,500 meters. It’s important to recognize early symptoms such as headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, or trouble sleeping. If these symptoms persist or worsen, it's essential to rest, descend, and avoid pushing higher. To minimize the risk, our itineraries are designed with gradual acclimatization, including rest days and controlled elevation gain. Staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol, and ascending slowly are key to prevention.

Our guides are trained to identify and manage signs of AMS and carry a basic medical kit, including altitude sickness medication (Diamox). Should symptoms arise, your guide will closely monitor your condition and make decisions to prioritize your safety. While AMS can affect anyone, proper pacing, awareness, and the support of our experienced team ensure you are well cared for throughout the journey.

  • SNACKS & DRINKING WATER

Along the Trek, you’ll find familiar treats like Snickers, Mars bars, cookies, and instant noodles available at teahouses and small shops—though prices increase with altitude. However, if you rely on protein bars, energy gels, or specific dietary snacks, we highly recommend bringing them from home, as these are rarely available in remote mountain villages. Having your own stash of high-energy snacks can make a big difference on long trekking days.

Clean drinking water is widely available along both the Manaslu and Annapurna Circuits, but it’s important to treat all water before drinking. Most guesthouses provide boiled or filtered water for a small fee, and you’ll also find refill stations in some villages promoting eco-friendly trekking. Plastic bottles are discouraged (and sometimes banned in conservation areas), so carrying a reusable water bottle or hydration bladder is essential. For added safety and flexibility, we recommend bringing water purification tablets, a SteriPEN, or a portable filter. Natural water sources like streams are common, especially in lower elevations, but always purify before drinking. Staying hydrated is key—especially at altitude—so plan to carry at least 2 to 3 liters with you each day.

  • CANCELLATION, REFUNDS & TRAVEL INSURANCE:

Once bookings have been confirmed, all cancellations will follow the terms and conditions of our local suppliers and service providers. Please note that many partners require advance payments to secure availability, and their refund policies may vary. We will always do our best to recover any refundable amounts wherever possible, but some services may be fully non-refundable depending on supplier conditions.

We strongly recommend that all travelers purchase comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and unexpected changes. This ensures peace of mind and financial protection in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

Spring brings colorful rhododendron blooms and a lively Base Camp atmosphere with many expeditions, while autumn offers crisp air and excellent visibility after the monsoon.

INTERNET & SIM CARDS

SIM cards are available almost everywhere in Nepal, including directly at the airport upon arrival. If you prefer not to buy a physical SIM card, you can easily use an eSIM from Airalo, you’ll find more details and a 10% discount in our Travel Guide Book.
