Where to Find the Most Beautiful Cafés, Coconut Coffee & Hidden Gems in Vietnam’s Most Charming Town

Hoi An is not only famous for its lantern-lit streets, yellow colonial houses, and riverside atmosphere, it has also become one of Vietnam’s most exciting coffee destinations. From hidden garden cafés and traditional Vietnamese coffee houses to modern specialty spots, Hoi An offers a café culture that perfectly matches the city’s relaxed rhythm.

Whether you are searching for the perfect coconut coffee, a peaceful morning escape, or a hidden café overlooking rice fields, this guide covers our favorite coffee shops in Hoi An, the places we genuinely loved returning to during our stay of 2 months in Hoi An back in 2024.

Why Hoi An’s Café Culture Feels So Special

Vietnam is one of the world’s great coffee countries, but Hoi An offers something particularly unique. Coffee here is not rushed. Cafés are designed for slowing down, escaping the heat, observing daily life, and enjoying the atmosphere.

Some cafés hide behind old wooden doors, others open directly onto rice paddies or quiet alleyways. In Hoi An, coffee becomes part of the travel experience itself.

Our Favorite Coffee Shops in Hoi An

Uncle Huan Coffee

Uncle Huan Coffee feels like one of those places you almost want to keep secret. Small, authentic, and deeply local, it offers a much more intimate atmosphere compared to some of the busier cafés in the old town.

The owners are incredibly welcoming, and the café has a calm energy that immediately makes you want to stay longer than planned.

We especially loved:

  • Egg Coffee, and look at those peace of arts

  • The peaceful hidden atmosphere

  • Watching local life quietly pass by outside (Early morning is the best, while the old town is still awaking)

It’s the kind of café where time slows down completely.

Faifo Coffee

Probably the most iconic café in Hoi An, and honestly, it deserves the reputation.

While many visitors come for the rooftop, the real magic happens when you arrive early in the morning or during golden hour. The panoramic view over Hoi An’s yellow rooftops creates one of the most beautiful scenes in the city.

We recommend:

  • Going just before sunset

  • Ordering a coconut coffee

  • Taking your time upstairs on the terrace

The atmosphere feels cinematic once the lanterns begin to light up across the old town.

Rio Garden Coffee Hoi An

Rio Garden Coffee offers a completely different side of Hoi An. Surrounded by greenery and away from the busiest streets, this café feels calm, tropical, and incredibly relaxing.

This became one of our favorite afternoon escape spots, especially after long mornings exploring the old town. This is a very local coffee type found accross Vietnam, you will see very little tourists there.

Perfect for:

  • Slow mornings

  • Reading or journaling

  • Escaping the heat

  • Relaxed brunches and iced coffee

The garden atmosphere makes it easy to lose track of time here.

Miss Hoi An Cafe

Miss Hoi An Cafe combines beautiful aesthetics with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The interior design feels elegant without trying too hard, mixing traditional Vietnamese details with a more modern café style.

What we loved most was how balanced the experience felt, good coffee, calm music, friendly staff, and a location perfect for taking a break while exploring the city.

We especially recommend:

  • Salt coffee

  • Fresh pastries

  • Sitting by the windows in the late afternoon light

A perfect café for travelers wanting comfort and atmosphere at the same time.

Rao Coffee

Rao Coffee feels more local, raw, and authentic than many of the trendier cafés around town, and that is exactly why we loved it.

There is something very genuine about the atmosphere here. The coffee is excellent, the setting feels understated, and the experience is less about taking photos and more about enjoying real Vietnamese café culture.

Our favorite moment here was simply sitting outside with an iced coffee while scooters, bicycles, and local daily life slowly moved around us.

Our Favorite:

  • Mango Coffee coffee

  • Taking your time and simply observing the city

A beautiful reminder that sometimes the simplest cafés leave the strongest memories.
