Two months ago, we tried something new at Roxy's Travel Plan: a small, free online session where we simply talked about a country we had travelled ourselves. No presentation designed to sell a trip, no obligation and no polished sales script - just our own experience, the places that stayed with us, the things we would do differently, and plenty of time for questions.

We have now held our first two sessions, and the feedback has been very positive. So we have decided to keep going. From now on, Live with Roxy will be a regular part of our monthly programme, with one or two free sessions each month focusing on destinations across Asia and Oceania.

What is Live with Roxy?

Live with Roxy is a free online travel session hosted on Microsoft Teams. Each session lasts around one hour and puts one destination in the spotlight. Everyone is welcome - whether you are already planning a trip, still deciding where to go, or simply interested in hearing what travelling through that country is really like.

The format is deliberately simple. We tell the story of how we travelled: how we moved around the country, where we stayed, what surprised us, what we loved, what we did not enjoy as much, and the experiences that shaped our view of the destination.

Travel as we actually experienced it

Our trips have rarely followed one single travel style. On the same journey, we might stay in a local home and spend time with a family, take a long train or ferry across the country, eat in a tiny neighbourhood restaurant, and later stay in a luxury resort as part of a hotel collaboration. That mix is exactly what we want to share.

The sessions are not about presenting a perfect version of a destination. They are about the details that become useful when you are actually there: how easy it was to get around, which regions felt worth the detour, when we would slow down, which experiences felt too touristy for us, and the moments with local people that made the trip memorable.

Questions are a big part of the session

We intentionally keep these sessions conversational. There is always time for questions, and we genuinely want people to ask them. Sometimes one question changes the direction of the entire discussion - and that is usually when the most useful information comes out.

You can ask about routes, transport, accommodation, food, activities, costs, travelling independently, or simply whether a place lived up to our expectations. If we experienced it ourselves, we will tell you what we think. If we did not, we will say so.

Our first sessions: Indonesia

We started the series with Indonesia, a country we have travelled widely and one that is almost impossible to cover in a single hour. The first session moved through our broader experience of the country - from Java and Bali to the islands and diving areas farther east.

Afterwards, we received so many detailed questions about Komodo cruises that the second session naturally became Indonesia Part 2, with a closer look at the boats, the routes between Lombok and Flores, departures from Flores and what life on board is actually like. That is exactly how we want Live with Roxy to develop: the conversation should follow what people are curious about.

A different destination every month

Indonesia was only the beginning. Each month, the theme will change. One session might take us through Thailand, Vietnam or the Philippines; another could focus on Nepal, Mongolia, New Zealand or another part of Asia and Oceania that we know from our own travels.

The destination and date will be announced in our monthly newsletter and on Roxy's Travel Plan Website. Some months we may run one session, and in others two, depending on the topic and the questions that come out of the first discussion.

Free, informal and open to everyone

There is no cost to join and no obligation to book anything with us. You register for the session you want to attend, receive the Teams access details, and join us online. That is all.

For us, these sessions are a way to share the part of travel planning that is difficult to put into a standard itinerary: the stories, small observations, mistakes, unexpected discoveries and first-hand context that help a destination make sense.

See you out there, Roxy & Stephan
