━━ THE JOURNEY
Why this country left a lasting impression on us

Laos stole our hearts from the very first moment. The Upper Mekong winds through some of the most serene and untouched landscapes we’ve ever seen — misty mountains, emerald waters, and dramatic karst formations that seem to rise out of nowhere. Spending this time on the river, slowly floating downstream on the calm Mekong, was the perfect way for us to slow down, breathe, and connect with the gentle pace of local life.
What touched us most was the warmth and kindness of the Laotian people. Everywhere we went, locals welcomed us with genuine smiles, open hearts, and a generosity that made every encounter memorable. From exploring ancient temples and sacred caves filled with countless Buddha statues, to wandering lively local markets where traditional crafts come alive, every moment felt rich with culture and authenticity.
Sunrises and sunsets on the Mekong were nothing short of magical, casting a golden glow over the calm river and lush landscapes. Whether kayaking through hidden inlets, cycling along riverside paths, or simply relaxing on board, every experience felt intimate and unhurried, allowing us to fully embrace the spirit of Laos and the peaceful rhythm of life along the river.
The Upper Mekong isn’t just a river; it’s a journey through history, culture, and nature, and this cruise gave us the perfect way to experience it, slowly, mindfully, and deeply.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT:
International flights can be arranged upon request, subject to availability. A 10% service fee will apply to cover handling and booking costs.
VISA:
Visa requirements differ depending on your nationality. We strongly recommend verifying the latest entry regulations with official immigration authorities before you travel.
CASH/ATM:
Laos remains largely a cash-based destination, especially in local eateries, street markets, and small family-run shops. While credit cards are accepted in some high-end hotels and tourist-focused businesses, cash is still the preferred method for daily purchases. ATMs are available in most cities and larger towns, making it easy to withdraw local currency when needed.
GUIDED TOURS:
Guided tours are typically conducted on a shared basis, meaning other travelers may join the same experience. This allows you to meet other guests and share the activity as part of a small group.
If a private tour is included or available as an upgrade, it will be clearly indicated in your itinerary or can be arranged upon request (subject to availability and additional cost).
CANCELLATION, REFUNDS & TRAVEL INSURANCE:
Once bookings have been confirmed, all cancellations will follow the terms and conditions of our local suppliers and service providers. Please note that many partners require advance payments to secure availability, and their refund policies may vary. We will always do our best to recover any refundable amounts wherever possible, but some services may be fully non-refundable depending on supplier conditions.
We strongly recommend that all travelers purchase comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and unexpected changes. This ensures peace of mind and financial protection in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
THE SOUL OF MEKONG
Aboard the Anouvong, the Mekong reveals one of its most secluded and spellbinding stretches. This journey through northern Laos is not merely travel – it’s a poetic passage through landscapes untouched by time and steeped in deep spiritual resonance. As the river carves its way between jungle-clad mountains and golden-hued villages, it whispers stories of kings, monks, and traditions rooted in centuries of calm resilience.
Life along the upper Mekong moves with quiet grace. Each curve of the river unveils sacred caves, riverside temples, and age-old villages where time flows to the rhythm of nature. Step ashore to walk through vibrant markets, meet local artisans, and take part in intimate cultural exchanges that leave lasting impressions. Here, authenticity is not curated – it simply is. Onboard the Anouvong, tradition meets elegance. This boutique vessel – Heritage Line’s first on Laotian waters – offers a refined yet deeply personal experience. A blend of French-Colonial charm and rich Laotian heritage graces every detail, from intricately hand-carved motifs to the delicate textures of local textiles. Savor regionally inspired haute cuisine, unwind in your private sanctuary, or feel the soul of the river from the panoramic terrace deck as the world drifts gently by.
This is a voyage of reflection and reconnection – not about ticking off sights, but about letting the river set the pace, embracing stillness, and allowing the timeless spirit of Laos to find a place within you.
TRAVEL GUIDE BOOK
You’ll receive a comprehensive Travel Guide Book in PDF format with all your confirmed bookings, key travel information, and a personalized day-by-day itinerary designed specifically for you.
The guide also includes practical tips to help your trip go smoothly, along with must-see locations, local eateries, hand-picked café recommendations we have personally tried and loved.
We will even connect you with reliable local taxi drivers, guides, and companies we have met during our own travels and fully trust.
WEATHER
The best time to visit Laos is from November to Mars, when the weather is cooler, drier, and more comfortable. During these months, skies are clearer and humidity is lower, making it ideal for sightseeing, river cruises, and outdoor adventures.
From November to February, you’ll enjoy pleasantly cool mornings and evenings, especially in the northern highlands, while March and April bring warmer temperatures and vibrant landscapes, perfect for photography and trekking.
The rainy season (May to October) brings higher humidity and frequent showers, especially from July to September. However, the countryside becomes lush and green, rivers run full, and the scenery is especially beautiful for travelers who don’t mind occasional tropical rain.
INTERNET & SIM CARDS
SIM cards are available almost everywhere, including directly at the airport upon arrival.
If you prefer not to buy a physical SIM card, I recommend using an eSIM from Airalo you’ll find more detailed information about this option in my Travel Guide Book including a 10% discount on their services.
