WHY WE LOVE UZBEKISTAN

Uzbekistan is unlike anywhere else, a place where the echoes of the Silk Road still whisper through its streets. From the dazzling mosaics of Samarkand to the sun-baked walls of Khiva and the timeless charm of Bukhara, every city feels like a living museum, yet full of life and color.

What makes Uzbekistan so unique is how seamlessly it bridges centuries, ancient caravanserais now filled with artisans, vibrant bazaars where silk, spices, and smiles are still traded as they were a thousand years ago. You don’t just visit history here, you feel it in the rhythm of daily life, in the smell of fresh bread baking in clay ovens, and in the soft “Salam” of every passerby.

Bukhara & Khiva captured our hearts with its golden light and quiet spirituality, walking through theses old cities feels like crossing into another time, each corner untouched, each shadow telling a story.

But what stays with us the most is not just the beauty or history, it’s the feeling of being part of a world that once connected East and West, a land where the Silk Road spirit still lives.

Day 1-3
Welcome to Uzbekistan

Welcome to Tashkent, a city where tradition and modernity meet. After your airport transfer, check in to your hotel and start your journey in Uzbekistan’s lively capital.

Spend your first full day at leisure. Wander through local bazaars filled with colorful spices, handmade crafts, and friendly smiles, or explore Tashkent’s broad boulevards, green parks, and Soviet-era charm.

Your Travel Guide Book includes handpicked recommendations for cafés, viewpoints, and evening strolls through the illuminated city – the perfect way to soak in your first impressions of Uzbekistan.

Day 3-5
Khiva – The Living Museum of the Silk Road

Fly from Tashkent to Urgench and continue by private transfer to Khiva, a city that feels like stepping into a fairytale.

Make yourself ready for an exciting day as you journey deep into the heart of Uzbekistan’s desert landscape.

In the morning, explore the ancient fortress with your private guide and uncover Khiva’s fascinating history and strategic past. After a local lunch, continue with a shared guided walking tour through Ichan Kala - the walled old town where turquoise domes, slender minarets, and intricate tilework create a scene straight out of the Silk Road era.

As the sun begins to set, head to one of Khiva’s viewpoints and watch the old town bathed in warm golden light — an unforgettable end to your day in this open-air museum.

Day 5-8
Bukhara – Spirit of History and Faith

Take the train from Khiva to Bukhara and arrive in one of the most atmospheric cities along the Silk Road. After checking in at your hotel, enjoy a quiet evening stroll through the old town where softly lit domes and arched bazaars whisper stories of centuries past.

The next morning, set out on a private full-day guided tour to explore Bukhara’s most remarkable sights. Visit the impressive Ark Fortress, the Kalon Minaret, and beautifully tiled madrassas that frame the city’s ancient squares. Between visits, take a break at a traditional chaikhana, sipping tea under the shade of mulberry trees.

Spend the following day at your own pace. Your personalized Travel Guide Book is filled with handpicked tips from where to enjoy a delicious local lunch to hidden courtyards and artisan workshops worth discovering on your own.

Whether you choose to wander through the bazaars or simply relax in a shady garden café, Bukhara invites you to slow down and soak in its timeless atmosphere.

Day 18-12
Samarkand – Splendor of the Timurid Empire

Take the train from Bukhara to Samarkand, once the glittering capital of the Timurid Empire. After your arrival, settle into your hotel and take an evening walk to catch your first glimpse of the Registan - its majestic mosaics glowing beautifully under the night lights.

The next morning, explore the city’s grand highlights on a private half-day guided tour. Visit the Registan Square, Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, and the shimmering blue domes of Shah-i-Zinda, where art and spirituality meet in perfect harmony. Spend your afternoon on your own pace.

The next day, embark on a private full-day journey to Shahrisabz — the birthplace of the great conqueror Amir Timur. Wander through centuries-old ruins and grand palaces, surrounded by open landscapes that still whisper stories of the empire he once forged.

A special highlight of your trip awaits as you cross the border into Tajikistan on a shared day tour to the stunning Seven Lakes. Nestled among mountain peaks and vibrant valleys, this natural wonder offers a unique opportunity to experience another country within your journey. In the evening, unwind with a cozy dinner, wander beneath the glowing lights of the Registan, or discover charming cafés and local favorites from your Travel Guide Book.

Day 12-14
Tashkent – Farewell to Uzbekistan

After breakfast, board the high-speed train back to Tashkent and watch the desert fade into the city’s skyline. Upon arrival, take a taxi to your hotel and settle in for your final days in Uzbekistan.

Spend your time at your own pace, wander through colorful bazaars, visit modern cafés, or explore Tashkent’s mix of old charm and new energy. If you’d rather take it slow, relax in one of the city’s green parks or enjoy a peaceful evening stroll before your journey comes to an end.

The next day, your private transfer will take you comfortably to the airport for your onward journey, bringing your Uzbekistan adventure to a close, filled with unforgettable moments and serene memories.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
  • INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT:

International flights can be arranged upon request, subject to availability. A 10% service fee will apply to cover handling and booking costs.

  • VISA:

Visa requirements differ depending on your nationality. We strongly recommend verifying the latest entry regulations with official immigration authorities before you travel. Roxy Travel Plan can provide general guidance or advice upon request; however, we cannot take responsibility for visa approvals, rejections, or changes in immigration policies.

  • CASH/ATM:

Uzbekistan is gradually becoming more card-friendly, but cash remains essential for most everyday transactions.

In major cities like Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara, you can use credit or debit cards at higher-end hotels, restaurants, and some tourist-oriented shops. However, smaller guesthouses, local eateries, and markets still prefer cash. It’s also worth noting that international cards may not always work reliably, so it’s best to carry enough Uzbekistani Som (UZS) for daily expenses.

ATMs are increasingly available in city centers and airports, but they can occasionally run out of cash or only accept certain card networks. In rural areas and smaller towns like Khiva, cash is almost always required, so withdrawing enough in advance is recommended.

While Uzbekistan is modernizing quickly, travelers will find that a mix of both card and cash ensures a smooth experience across the country.

  • GUIDED TOURS:

Guided tours are typically conducted on a shared basis, meaning other travelers may join the same experience. This allows you to meet other guests and share the activity as part of a small group.

If a private tour is included or available as an upgrade, it will be clearly indicated in your itinerary or can be arranged upon request (subject to availability and additional cost).

  • CANCELLATION, REFUNDS & TRAVEL INSURANCE:

Once bookings have been confirmed, all cancellations will follow the terms and conditions of our local suppliers and service providers. Please note that many partners require advance payments to secure availability, and their refund policies may vary. We will always do our best to recover any refundable amounts wherever possible, but some services may be fully non-refundable depending on supplier conditions.

We strongly recommend that all travelers purchase comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and unexpected changes. This ensures peace of mind and financial protection in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

WEATHER

The best time to visit Uzbekistan is from April to June and September to October, when the weather is pleasantly warm and ideal for exploring its historic cities and desert landscapes. During these months, temperatures are comfortable, skies are clear, and the light is perfect for photography, making it the best time to wander through the ancient streets of Khiva, Bukhara, and Samarkand.

Summer (July to August) can be extremely hot, especially in desert regions where temperatures often exceed 40°C (104°F). Sightseeing during midday can be challenging, though mornings and evenings remain manageable and lively.

Winter (December to February) brings colder weather, with temperatures dropping close to freezing, particularly at night. While not the peak tourist season, winter offers a quieter and more authentic experience, with fewer crowds and crisp air over the blue-tiled domes of Samarkand.

Overall, spring and autumn are the most pleasant times to experience Uzbekistan’s Silk Road heritage, vibrant bazaars, and timeless desert fortresses.

INTERNET & SIM CARDS

SIM cards are available almost everywhere, including directly at the airport upon arrival.

If you prefer not to buy a physical SIM card, I recommend using an eSIM from Airalo you’ll find more detailed information about this option in my Travel Guide Book including a 10% discount on their services.
